Proof that I am human! Just me at Yellow in Georgetown, waiting for my friend Peter to finish his photoshoot so I can finally chomp on this croissant.
Hi Bob!
If you understood the reference above, we can be best buds!
I don't want to talk much about my professional and academic accolades here (let's make LinkedIn useful for something). It feels so repetitive, corporate-y! So, this is my attempt at answering: "Tell me more about yourself."
When you meet me, 8/10 times you will think I look mean and intimidating. It's just armor! Growing up in a super competitive environment with a dash of bullying was the perfect recipe for ambiversion. Being an outlier made me highly observant and an overthinker—traits that only got amplified by being a Virgo.
I learned to express myself through photography and writing when I was a teenager. These skills, combined with a desire to overcome my inability to communicate as a child, became the foundation of my journey into MARCOM. That innate competitiveness made me a workaholic, while having to figure everything out on my own gave rise to a deeply altruistic side.
My true inflection point was when I became an apprentice to the best photographer in Nepal (shout out to Kishor Kayastha!). I went in full of youthful energy, ready to use the opportunity to springboard my photography career, but I realized something else: I am really good at creating movement. In my world, movement means coordinating, problem-solving, increasing efficiency, building trust, and developing deep relationships.
Two years later—after surviving a major earthquake and a perfectionist mentor—I made a major pivot. I wanted to be a good photographer, but an even better leader in MARCOM. The seal on my ambition came when I applied for a role as a program coordinator, and someone I deeply respected told me, "The skills and experience you've gained actually fit you perfectly for our communications coordinator role."
Alas, I decided to pursue neither. The altruist in me took over. I decided to build a digital marketing department from scratch at the company I was with, transitioning my editorial team there to keep us all employed and sane during the pandemic.
You might be wondering why I came to the United States. I became who I am through trial and error. It got me far, but I wanted to climb a higher summit. I needed the academic rigor to un-learn, learn, and refine my abilities. 36 credits and 1.5 years later, I look back at everything I've done and tell myself: "If I had this knowledge back then, I'd have done it so much more efficiently and delivered even better results."
What Happens If You Hire Me?
[Insert minions celebrating meme here] I'll replace this section with how I got hired!
Jokes aside! You onboard an individual who will aim to grasp your brand's/organization's mission and guidelines at the earliest. Breaking the ice with a new team is hard, but that's what dad jokes and happy hours are for!
I might have 7+ years of experience in marketing and communicating value, but I have 15+ years of experience in observing, understanding, and leveraging trends, opportunities, crises, ideas, and data into strategic storytelling.
Ultimately, hiring me means bringing on a dedicated specialist who knows how to craft compelling campaigns, analyze the metrics, and drive genuine, sustainable growth for your brand.
Yes, I can craft stellar, data-driven campaigns and manage them on a project management tool, coordinate the flow, identify intent, automate, analyze the data with analytics, and make it look pretty. But overall, I can make the process of conveying your beliefs and values more effective, efficient, and genuine!
This was an amazing team!
Yes, very mean!
