TL;DR
I directed the concept, scripting, and multimedia rollout for "Experience Nepal," a high-production cultural documentary series for the legendary Hotel Shanker. Built as a long-term brand investment rather than a commercial campaign, the project leveraged local heritage festivals to differentiate the property, support their in-house travel desk, and position the hotel as the true guardian of Kathmandu's history.
Stack I Used
Campaign & Content Architecture: Microsoft Excel & Planoly (Mapping out the multi-platform release timeline and visual grid continuity)
High-End Multimedia Production: Directed shoots utilizing a professional Nikon D850 camera rig, with post-production and editing finalized in Adobe Premiere Pro
Distribution & Platform Management: Meta Business Suite (Instagram native publishing) and YouTube Studio (Managing video optimization, thumbnails, and channel metrics)
The Heritage Brand Investment
Hotel Shanker is a legendary palatial heritage property, and its biggest competitive differentiator is that history and culture are quite literally in its blood. To tap into this, I conceptualized the "Experience Nepal" campaign. This wasn't a standard promotional push; it was a deliberate, long-term brand investment. The strategic goal was two-fold: create high-end visual assets that could permanently support the hotel's on-site travel desk—where international guests inquire about and book local excursions—while firmly establishing the property as an active patron of Kathmandu’s living heritage.
Managing a multimedia project centered around deeply sacred traditions like the Seto Matsyendranath and Karunamaya chariot festivals required immense precision. Because there was no direct commercial motive, our storytelling had to be completely pure and respectful. As the department lead, I took full ownership of the creative pipeline—developing the core concepts, writing the scripts, crafting the text overlays for the videos, and briefing our production crew. I coordinated closely with our videographer to capture the raw, vibrant energy of the Newar festivals using a professional Nikon D850 rig, making sure the visuals carried a cinematic weight.
Executing a mixed-media campaign across video-first platforms meant adopting a highly platform-specific distribution strategy. While static, aesthetic frames were curated for the Instagram grid using Excel and Planoly, the full-length cultural documentaries were deployed natively through YouTube Studio. Managing the backend of a full production cycle without bloated enterprise software proved our team’s agility. We successfully delivered an asset library that honors local diversity and provides permanent value to the client’s digital ecosystem, proving that luxury hospitality marketing is at its best when it acts as a storyteller for its location.
Learning
When you invest in a larger, high-end visual production, beautiful cinematography isn't always enough—it requires a strong vocal narrative or an on-screen anchor to seamlessly tie the emotional elements together. Looking back, the final documentaries feel slightly short because they lack that narrative voice, a crucial piece of creative direction I should have fought harder to convince the management team at Hotel Shanker to invest in from day one.
